A technical assessment of a preliminary project is a detailed examination of a wind energy project carried out by the federal authorities or Skyguide to determine its feasibility and whether it can be approved. These assessments are primarily intended for project developers.
They can only be carried out once all the necessary information is available. This is often only the case at the land use planning stage. However, we recommend applying for a technical assessment from Guichet Unique as early as possible.
Technical assessments of preliminary projects are generally free of charge. Please note that Skyguide only provides one free technical assessment per project.
The technical assessment of a preliminary project relates to the project's wind turbines. The following table shows which entities are involved in the technical assessment of a preliminary project. Entities that carry out technical assessments of preliminary wind energy projects are
- OFCOM
- MeteoSwiss
- FOCA
- Skyguide
- DDPS
A technical assessment by OFCOM examines how a wind turbine might interfere with existing radio relay links. Please note that the details of civil radio relay links for which OFCOM is responsible are available on the federal government's geodata portal (see link below).
When subsequently applying for an air navigation obstacle permit (FOCA), please note that the technical assessment by MeteoSwiss, the FOCA, Skyguide or the DDPS must be enclosed.
How to apply for a technical assessment
All the information you need to apply for a technical assessment of a preliminary project can be found in the ‘Instructions for applicants’ document. The necessary forms and some useful links can be found below.
Please note that your data will be accessible to all entities involved in Wind Energy Guichet Unique and Skyguide via an internal database.
