Air navigation obstacle permits

In accordance with Article 63 of the Ordinance on Aviation Infrastructure (AvIO), the owner of a wind turbine must obtain a permit from the FOCA for the construction or modification of a wind turbine that exceeds a maximum ground height of 60 metres (Air navigation obstacle requiring a permit). If the maximum ground height of the wind turbine is between 25 and 60 metres, it only needs to be registered. Registration is carried out via the Data Collection Service (DCS).

An aviation obstacle permit confirms that a wind turbine complies with the requirements for eliminating risks in existing danger zones (e.g. through markings and/or lighting), meaning it does not pose a threat to aviation safety.
