Consultations on clearance permits

In order to build wind turbines in a forest or an area designated as forest land, a cantonal clearance permit is required. This is usually considered alongside the land use plan. The canton or commune is responsible for coordinating this and the other permit procedures. If the area to be cleared exceeds 5,000m2 or extends across several cantons, the canton must consult with the FOEN.

How to proceed

The cantonal authorities submit the required documents directly to the FOEN, which informs Wind Energy Guichet Unique of the documents received. However, rather than sending its decision directly to the cantonal authority, the FOEN now sends it to Guichet Unique, which then forwards it on to the relevant authority.
