The SFOE has an internal competence centre responsible for providing risk management services throughout the department which is also charged with monitoring specific risks. In this respect the centre implements the national strategies for Critical Infrastructure Protection and to guard Switzerland against cyber risks in the energy sector. To reduce financial risks the centre audits external institutions which manage funds within the SFOE's area of responsibility. An emergency, crisis and continuity management system has been established to ensure the SFOE can maintain services even under exceptional circumstances. A team of lawyers, scientists and economists work together so effective solutions can be developed for the varied interdisciplinary challenges in this sector.
