SWEET consortia are expected to make concrete contributions to achieving the objectives of the Energy Strategy 2050 and the long-term climate strategy. To meet this expectation, consortia must link their research and innovation activities with the „life-world“ of stakeholders. “Impact orientation” refers to a specific way of thinking about and approaching research and implementation that begins at the outset of a consortium’s work, i.e., when preparing the proposals. This includes analysing and involving stakeholders, developing a preliminary shared understanding of the problem, and formulating expected outcomes that are relevant to them and their perspective on the problem.
To support existing SWEET consortia in strengthening their impact orientation, the SWEET Office organised a workshop dedicated to the five-stage impact model. This model can be used by existing and prospective consortia to develop and formulate expected outcomes, monitor and evaluate their progress towards them, and reflect and learn about potential pathways to impact. The slides from this workshop are available below. In addition, the document „Support for Improved Implementation of Inter-/Transdisciplinarity in SWEET“ provides introductory and tool-specific information on how to develop and formulate expected outcomes.
