Measures with respect to electricity grids

The development of the transmission network is a decisive factor for the successful development of Switzerland’s electricity supply. This network needs to be adapted to meet the new requirements. But the progress of the modification and renovation of the electricity networks has been very slow, partly as a consequence of protracted legal proceedings. Energy Strategy 2050 aims to speed up this process, for example by restricting access to the Federal Supreme Court, which means that legally binding rulings will be pronounced more quickly. In addition, at the end of 2017 Parliament had resolved various other measures in the revision of legislation within the framework of the Electricity Networks Strategy, which includes partial amendments to the Federal Electricity Act and the Federal Electricity Supply Act which entered into force on 1 June 2019.
