Open Government Data (OGD)

Open Government Data - Bild 1

The publication of open administrative data promotes transparency, participation, digitalization and innovation in all areas of society. The federal administrative units, including the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, are implementing these principles by gradually making their data available free of charge, promptly and in open and machine-readable formats. Since 2024, the principle of “open by default” has been legally enshrined in the Federal Act on the Use of Electronic Means for the Performance of Official Duties (EMBAG). The term “open government data” (OGD) stands for the active provision of public administration data that is not protected by law for free inspection and reuse.

The SFOE regularly publishes new data on the portal for Swiss Open Government Data (opendata.swiss) and is in the process of continuously improving the quality and openness of its data in accordance with the 5-star model.
