Electricity Reserve Ordinance

The implementing provisions required to implement the revision of the Electricity Supply Act (electricity reserve) at ordinance level are set out in the Electricity Reserve Ordinance. The revised Electricity Supply Act and the Electricity Reserve Ordinance will replace the existing Winter Reserve Ordinance. Due to the new legal basis, new provisions and clarifications are required at ordinance level, although some provisions will be carried over from the Winter Reserve Ordinance.

With its decision of 15 April 2026, the Federal Council launched the consultation on the Electricity Reserve Ordinance. The package of ordinances specifies the composition of the electricity reserve, the conditions for participation, and additional implementing provisions. The consultation closes on 5 August 2026.
