The Federal Council has selected a range of measures to prevent a power shortage this winter. These include the hydropower reserve, the construction of a reserve power plant in Birr (AG), further reserve power plants and generators, an increase in electrical transmission grid capacity, the financial back-stop for system-critical electricity companies, a temporary reduction in the required amount of residual flow in hydropower plants and an energy-saving campaign.
