Regional participation

Parties affected by decisions taken in the context of the site selection procedure are able to have a say. Municipalities, interest groups and the local population can participate in the sectoral plan via specially created bodies and thus express their demands, concerns and needs. Regional participation is focused on the regional conferences, which were set up in 2011. For example, during stage 2, regional conferences were able to state where they felt the facilities at ground level should be located. During stage 3, they participate in the discussion on optimising the infrastructure. Among other things they discuss measures aimed at supporting the desired development of the region.
