Today, buildings account for almost half Switzerland’s energy consumption and approximately one third of the country’s CO2 emissions. Swiss energy and climate policy aims to make buildings in Switzerland more energy-efficient, halve energy consumption, and reduce net CO2 emissions to zero by 2050.

From 2026, electricity suppliers will be issued targets to improve the efficiency of electricity use by end users in Switzerland.
