Competitive calls for tenders – ProKilowatt

ProKilowatt reduces electricity consumption in industrial and service sector companies, as well as in households, by providing financial support for electricity efficiency measures. The funding comes from a surcharge on the electricity grid and amounts to up to 70 million Swiss francs annually. Funding is awarded to projects that meet the current, technology-specific eligibility criteria and that also save as much electricity as possible per franc of funding (funding effectiveness in cents/kWh).

Under the project funding scheme, efficiency measures are generally submitted individually. However, in the case of comprehensive refurbishments, for example, several different measures may be combined into a single project application.

There will be no programme call for tenders in 2027.
Over the coming months, the SFOE will assess whether and how ProKilowatt programmes should be implemented in future.

Project funding

  • The applicant and direct recipient of the funding is the party implementing the measures.
  • Potential applicants include businesses or local authorities for measures in their own facilities.
  • The applicant implements the energy efficiency measure(s) in their facilities.
  • Applications may be submitted at any time, but must be made before the measures are implemented.
  • Once funding has been awarded, the applicant implements one or more measures, at the latest within three years.
  • Upon completion of the project, the applicant documents the implementation in accordance with the technology-specific requirements.
  • The final report is reviewed and the funding is released.

Programme funding

  • There will be no programme call for tenders in 2027.
  • However, the existing programmes will continue to run unchanged.
