Commissions and inspectorates

Federal Energy Research Commission (CORE)

CORE advises the Federal Council and the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) and specifies the guidelines for Swiss energy research. Its members represent the industrial sector, the energy industry, universities and various energy agencies and research institutions in Switzerland.

Federal Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC)

As advisory body to the Federal Council, the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) and the Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI), the Federal Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) examines fundamental issues relating to nuclear safety, and may submit statements of position to the Federal Council and DETEC concerning safety assessments by the Inspectorate.

Federal Inspectorate for Heavy Current Installations (ESTI)

In accordance with the Federal Electricity Act, the Federal Inspectorate for Heavy Current Installations is the supervisory authority for low-voltage and high-voltage installations. Furthermore, in accordance with the Ordinance on Electrical Low-Voltage Equipment, it also functions as the Swiss certification authority for electrical goods that are not subject to approval.

Federal Pipelines Inspectorate (FPI)

The Federal Pipelines Inspectorate (FPI) is responsible for supervising the planning, construction and operation of pipeline systems for the transport of liquid and gaseous combustibles and motor fuels in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI)

The Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate supervises and assesses the safety and radiation protection of Swiss nuclear facilities.
