Wind energy plants

The cantons are responsible for planning the location of wind energy plants. In their structure plans they specify where wind energy plants may be constructed and where their construction is not permitted. Their plans also take account of exclusion and reservation zones, as well as connections to the road network and electricity grid. The wind energy plants geodata set documents the current inventory of wind power plants in Switzerland. All the data are based on information provided by the power plant operators. The purpose of the dataset is to inform the general public. It is neither official in nature nor legally binding.

The minimal geodata model is explained in detail in the documentation. The INTERLIS 2.3 data model and geodata are available for downloading.
