Since 2015 the energy label has also been mandatory for coffee machines in Switzerland.
Allocation to the energy efficiency classes from A+++ (high energy efficiency) to D (low energy efficiency) depends not only on the absolute power consumption, but also on the different properties of each machine. Energy consumption for brewing coffee or dispensing steam, for example, is calculated based on a precisely predefined cycle. The cooling and reheating of water, and the standby features are thus also included.
