It is now possible to identify the energy consumption of a television set at a glance: the energy label contains a scale indicating the efficiency categories, green = highest efficiency, red = lowest efficiency.
In Switzerland, all TV sets displayed for sale are required to display this label.
Besides the annual energy consumption in kilowatt hours the label also indicates the screen diagonal and power consumption and states whether the set is equipped with a genuine power switch.
Requirements relating to electricity consumption in standby and off mode also apply to TV sets. Here the levels may not exceed 1 watt and 0.5 watts respectively. Higher levels apply to TV sets that are connected to the Internet.
The Compareco database lists numerous efficient TV sets.
