Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate

The Federal Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) is an advisory body reporting to the Federal Council, the Swiss Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) and the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI). The Commission examines fundamental issues relating to nuclear safety and and may comment on the assessments of the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI).

The NSC also assists in drawing up legislation for the nuclear safety sector. The NSC comprises five to seven members who work on a part-time basis all of whom come from fields of science and technology that are of importance for nuclear safety.
