The exchange of information about research and development of combustion systems is hosted by a variety of interest groups, including:
- Competence Group for Combustion Engines (HKV), which convenes annually for an exchange of information. It primarily comprises representatives of Universities of Applied Sciences, and is headed by Professor J. Czerwinski (Bern University of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Information Technology, BFH-TI Biel).
- The European Research Community on Flow, Turbulence and Combustion (Ercoftac) is based at the École Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne(EPFL). In the field of combustion, the group focuses on aspects of relevance to flow: thus numeric models form the fundamental research topics of this European institution.
- Effiziente Energie Erzeugung V3E (Efficient Energy Generation) The association is committed to improving the political and economic conditions to promote the use of cogeneration in Switzerland.
- Schweizerischer Fachverband für Wärmekraftkopplung (Swiss Professional Association for Cogeneration). The association maintains and spreads the information gathered by the industry and promotes CHP technology.
