The exchange of information concerning the research and development of combustion systems is effected via a variety of interest groups, including:
- Swiss Association for Combustion Research (SVV), which is presided over by Professor K. Boulouchos (LAV, Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich ) and Dr. P. Jansohn (PSI), and normally convenes once a year for a conference on combustion research in Switzerland.
- Competence Group for Combustion Engines (HKV), which convenes annually for an exchange of information. It primarily comprises representatives of colleges of technology, and is headed by Professor J. Czerwinski (Bern University of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Information Technology, BFH-TI Biel).
- The European Research Community on Flow, Turbulence and Combustion (Ercoftac) is based at the Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne. In the field of combustion, it focuses on aspects of relevance to flow: thus numeric models form the fundamental research topics of this European institution.
