The Power Plant 2020/CCS research programme works together with various specialists from the industry and universities in Switzerland, but in specific cases it also involves foreign partners who can contribute their exclusive know-how to its projects.
It will only be possible to achieve the extremely ambitious technical goals by obtaining a better understanding of the technological correlations and acquiring comprehensive basic expertise. This know-how is provided by a variety of academic institutions in Switzerland, including the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, the Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Testing and Research, the Paul Scherrer Institute, the Northwest Switzerland University of Applied Sciences, the Rapperswil College of Technology and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
The programme also maintains close ties with the Energy & Mobility Competence Centre (CCEM), which is part of the Federal Institute of Technology. At the CCEM, the goals of its activities in the area of electricity are largely in line with the focus of the Power Plant 2020/CCS research programme.
The programme is also seeking the active involvement of the electricity and gas industries in Switzerland (represented by SwissElectric and the Swiss Gas Industry Association), who as users and suppliers stand to gain significant benefits from the development of new and advanced technologies.
Many projects receive support from the Commission for Technology and Innovation (KTI) in addition to that provided by the SFOE. The situation with respect to co-operation and co-ordination with other public institutions is very pleasing and is expected to remain positive in the future.
