The strategic focus of this programme is based on the energy research concept of the federal government.

Increasing the degree of energy efficiency in the electricity sector is the most important goal for the Electricity Technologies and Applications research programme. It aims to make a significant contribution towards this goal. In the area of applications, its main focus is on gathering fundamental findings and passing them on to SwissEnergy for broad-based implementation. In the area of electricity technologies, the aim is to carry out research into innovative solutions that can help increase the production of electricity, and/or create the additional technical conditions that are required for ensuring that the increasing proportion of renewable energy can be optimally utilised.
