The activities in both segments of the programme are focused on international developments, and the programme sets out to work together with international partners whenever this is possible and deemed purposeful.
Thus for a number of years now, Switzerland has actively participated in various implementing agreements of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Here, special mention should be made of the following two IEA agreements: "Assessing the Impact of High Temperature Superconductivity on the Electric Power Sector", and "Efficient Electrical End-Use Equipment 4E".
In the framework of the "European Standby Initiative", the EU has developed codes of conduct in the areas of set-top boxes, broadband devices and external power supply units. Switzerland is invited to participate in both the development and ongoing improvement of these codes of conduct, and can thus contribute its own expertise. With the aid of industry players, Switzerland developed the code of conduct for uninterruptible power supply devices (systems up to 10 kVA) on behalf of the EU.
In addition, Switzerland maintains contacts and works closely together with a variety of international energy agencies.
