The Biomass and Wood Energy research programmes work closely together with SwissEnergy (the federal government's energy policy programme). The strengths of this programme aimed at promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy lie in the close partnership between the federal government, the cantons, municipalities and countless players from trade and industry, environmental and consumer organisations, and public and private agencies. This close co-operation between research and market ensures that research findings can be efficiently translated into practice. The following institutions act as partners of SwissEnergy in the biomass field:
In Switzerland, research projects in the biomass and wood energy sectors are currently being carried out at universities, research institutions at the two Federal Institutes of Technology (Lausanne and Zurich), research foundations, advanced colleges of technology, private engineering and environmental protection agencies, specialised organisations and small and medium-sized companies. The contractors involved are in turn strongly networked both at home and abroad, and are also actively involved in a variety of platforms.
The Biomass and Wood Energy research programmes also collaborate closely with the other SFOE research programmes, such as Combustion and Cogeneration (WKK), Networks, etc., and the Biomass and Wood Energy section of the SFOE. Joint projects are also carried out with other federal authorities (Federal Office of the Environment, Federal Office for Agriculture, etc.).
